Sharon E. Kappes, age 81 of Freeport, IL, passed away at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL on Monday, December 30, 2024. She was born November 15, 1943 in McConnell, IL; the daughter of the late Clifford and Beulah (Kuhlemeyer) Black. She was a 1961 graduate of Orangeville High School. Sharon went on to the University of Madison and then to Mitchell South Dakota where she became an RN.

She worked as an RN in Freeport for 28+ years. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She loved spending time with her family.

Sharon is survived by her sons, Scott (Cindy) Kappes of Freeport and Lee (Christa Reiter) of Gilbert, IL; daughter, Michelle Kappes of Freeport; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Rosie Smith of Cobden, IL, Janis (Duane) St. Clair of Columbia, MD, Marla (Jack) Dennis of Polo, IL, and Joyce (Van) Thomas of Chesterton, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Hailey; grandson, Collin; and brother-in-law, Ken Smith.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
