Sharon M. Simler, 83, of Freeport was called home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 31, 2022 with her children by her side. Born on January 27, 1939 at home in Leaf River, she was the daughter of Klaus & Alice (Steinhagen) Bocker.

Sharon married Jerry Simler on September 30, 1967 in Adeline. She worked at Crum & Forster Insurance Company and at Furst- McNess until becoming a mother and full time homemaker. Sharon was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. She was a faithful servant of her Lord and was a member of St. John U.C.C. in Freeport.   She loved bowling, volunteering at her church and for her daughter's classroom at school, going to casinos, traveling with family, taking her grandchildren out to lunch, and shopping. She was a compassionate supporter of many charities & causes that held a special place in her heart, especially those for animals.

Sharon is survived by her children Anita (Greg) Bicksler of Ridott, and Michael (Jen Maves) Simler of Freeport. Cherished grandchildren, Rachel (Tanner Wilkinson) Bicksler, Bryce Bicksler, Brennan Simler, Rachel (Igor) Leshchinskiy, and Becca (Noah Monigold) Maves. A brother Ronald (Elizabeth) Bocker. Numerous nieces, nephews, and her beloved pet cat Carly.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and several brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws as well as several cherished pets. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Hank Fairman officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, February 7 at Walker Mortuary, Freeport. Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
