Sheldon "PeeWee" Shenberger, 74 of Freeport died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at his home. Born July 20, 1938 in Freeport he was the son of Walter (Bud) and Thelma Shenberger. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. On November 8, 1958 he and Sharon Dunsirn were united in marriage in Freeport. PeeWee enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. For 42 years he worked for Modern Plating and was a member of the Freeport Moose. Surviving are his wife Sharon of Freeport, four daughters Dawn (Carl) Janicke of FL, Sherry (Daniel) Loring of Freeport, Jill Symanek of Freeport, Susan (Charles) Kappes of Lanark; nine grandchildren Brandy, Shawn, Jimmy, Shannon, Nichole, Jeremy, Jason, Carl, Tanya; 24 great grandchildren; brother Willard (Rita) Shenberger of Freeport, Evelyn (Bucky) Taggart of Forreston. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Ruby, brother Walter Sr., granddaughter Nichole, great grandson Nicholas and son-in-law Jimmer Symanek.
Funeral service and visitation will be at the First Church of the Nazarene Tuesday. Visiting hours will be from 10 am until 12pm, funeral service will be at 1:00pm with Reverend John Hollis officiating. Burial will be at the Silver Springs Cemetery, Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
