Shirley M. Moore, 86, of Freeport, IL - loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Winn Prairie in Freeport. Shirley was born on February 1, 1938 to Emerson and Hazel (Johann) Garman. She married Duane Giedd on December 24, 1955 and together they raised two children. Duane died August 10, 1980. Shirley later married Donald Moore on March 29, 1985. He died May 29, 1998. Shirley worked at Micro Switch until her retirement in 1993.

Shirley enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, cross-stitching, walking in the park, watching sports on television, doing puzzles and reading books. She most recently enjoyed visits from her great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her children; Julie Wenzel (Michael Whitehead) of Lake Carroll, and Bradley (Rhonda) Giedd of Cedarville, grandchildren;  Talia Wenzel (Sam Parsons) of London, England, Alissa (Michael) O'Reilly of Wheaton, Erica Giedd (Nick St. Ores) of Freeport, and Mitchell (Ashton) Giedd of Sterling, Step grandchildren; Christopher (Kyda) Whitehead of Freeport and Patrick (Kathryn) Whitehead of Lake Carroll. She is also survived by 6 Great Grandchildren, Louisa Ganguly, Jameson and Maeve O'Reilly, Maddie, Joan and Martha Whitehead, Sister; Diana (Joe) Lyberger, Sisters-in-law; Betty Giedd, Sue Giedd and Lisa Young, Brothers-in-law; Arnold (Kay) Giedd and David (Ramona) Giedd and Michael Blazina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Emerson "Butch", Clarence "Buzz" and Tony at birth and sister, Sandra Moon.

Graveside service will held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 2 at Shannon Brethren Cemetery in Shannon, Illinois. Pastor Craig Connor of Cedarville will officiate the service.  A celebration of life and a luncheon to follow at Noon at the Lanark Heritage Center, 106 S Broad, Lanark, Illinois. All family and friends are invited to attend.
