Shirley M. Washburn, 97, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Liberty Village – Manor Court.  She was born on May 21, 1926, in Pearl City, Illinois to LaVerne and Mae (Garner) Kuhlmyer.  She graduated in 1944 from Pearl City High School.  Shirley and Alfred F. Washburn were married on September 17, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pearl City, Illinois.  They were married for 68 years.  She was employed by Crum and Forster from 1944-1951 and was a member of First Lutheran Church in Freeport, Illinois.

Shirley was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending time with her family, doing word searches, and playing bingo at Liberty Village – Manor Court.

She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Sally Manus and Mary (Dan) Lashinski both of Freeport; grandchildren Eric (Alicen) Manus and their children Ethan, Emma and Elijah of Arlington Heights, IL; Dr. Mrs. Lisa Manus (Andrew Schanck) and their daughter, Anna of Lawrenceville, NJ; Stacy Lashinski of Freeport; IL Sarah (Daniel) Scheider and their children, Ella and Wyatt of Freeport; sister-in-law, Mrs. Joan Kuhlmyer of Pearl City, IL; and three special nieces, Janet (Fred) Schubert of Pecatonica, IL; Leanne (Joe) Zid of Carol Stream, IL; and Susan Kuhlmyer of Lena, IL.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alfred (2018); son-in-law, Joel Manus; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Glen Holmes; brothers, Allan Kuhlmyer and Lee Kuhlmyer.
