Shirley Joyce Williams, 77, of rural Eleroy, died Saturday, November 09, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital Freeport. Born December 19, 1935 in Freeport she was the daughter of George and Emma (Greenfield) Ruter. She was a graduate of Forreston High School. On October 5, 1957 she and Kenneth Williams were united in marriage at the St. John United Church of Christ, Freeport. Shirley enjoyed sewing, baking and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She worked with her husband on their dairy farm. Shirley was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Eleroy and taught Sunday school. She also was a leader for the 4H Eleroy Lads and Lassies, and was superintendent of the Stephenson County Fair for Hobbies and Crafts. Surviving are her husband of Eleroy, four children Jeffrey (Andrea) Williams of Argyle, WI, Karlene (Eric) Beckmeier of Rock City, Gregrey (Mary) Williams of Freeport, Stacey (Brian) Evert of Lanark; five grandchildren Kendra and Kyle Bolen, Taylor and Whitney Runkle, Carson Williams; sister Faye (Glenn) Schneiderman of Baileyville, and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, a granddaughter Hannah, and two sisters Lola Mae and Marlys. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7:30 p.m. at Salem United Church of Christ, 8491 W. Salem Rd., Lena, IL. Funeral service will be 11a.m. Tuesday at Salem United Church of Christ with Reverend Randy Nicholas officiating.
Burial will be at the Church Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Church.
