Shirleyan Meile, 83, of Freeport, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015, at Stephenson Nursing Center, with her family by her side.
Born December 2, 1931 in Monroe, Wisconsin she was the daughter of Gaylord and Irene (Stauffacher) Thurston.
Shirleyan attended Freeport schools and later worked at various places including Northwestern Telephone Company, Structo and retired from Micro Switch after 18 years.
She married George V. Meile on September 10, 1949.
Shirleyan enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, David Meile of Baileyville; daughter-in-law Melody Meile of Freeport; her uncle, Bud Stauffacher of Englewood, Colorado; her grandchildren, Bradley Meile and Stacy (Ronald Houston) Meile both of Freeport; her great grandchildren, Nicholas Mauerman, Schylar Meile, Trey Meile, and Race Meile.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thomas and Gary Lee; one grandson, Jamie; aunt and uncle, Ruthella and Jozsef Pregan.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Walker Mortuary.
There will be a gathering for family and friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the Walker Mortuary.
Interment of her cremated remains will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established.
