Sonia "Frenchie" Kahler, age 84 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at UW Hospital in Rockford, IL. She was born October 27, 1941 in Germany; the daughter of the late Serge and Claire (Holzausen) Rochon.

Sonia worked at Nickelodeon Bar and at Honeywell in Freeport. She also participated in the Farmer's Market. She was very artistic, especially with crafts, painting, and crocheting. She also made award winning dolls. Sonia loved playing BINGO. Most of all she was a beloved mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her seven children, Serge Rochon, Frederick Kahler, Michael Kahler, Suzanne Kerfoot, Valerie Cordova, Francoise Rundall, and Denise Cardwell; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and her cat, Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. A committal service will take place on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
