Dakota- Stanley C. Meier, 84, of Dakota died Saturday March 8, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family. Born May 30, 1923, in Dakota, he was the son of Clarence and Elsie (Cahoon) Meier. He and ClaraBelle Klipping were married September 9, 1945, at First Lutheran Church in Freeport. Stanley has been a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Afolkey since childhood. He and his wife farmed the family farm in Dakota which became a centennial farm in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of Dakota; one daughter, Sheila (James) Rhudy of Auburn, Maine; one son, Eugene "Huey" (Ellen Janssen) Meier of Dakota; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother-in- law Don (Deloris) Klipping of Freeport; sister-in-law, Marjorie Klipping of Lena.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one infant son, Dickie Lee and brother, Bruce. Brother-in-law, Robert Klipping and sister-in-law, Irene Grier also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Afolkey with the Rev. James A. Ketzel and Rev. John J. Brander officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
