Susan J. Fransen, 70, of Savanna, formerly Freeport, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at Iowa University in Iowa City, Iowa with her family by her side.
Susan had resided at Big Meadows Nursing Home for the last year. She had many friends there and received wonderful care. One of the highlights in the last year was spending the day at Camp Courageous where she went Zip-lining and tree climbing.
Born December 16, 1943 in Freeport she was the daughter of Glenn and Esther (Bratley) Sincox.
She was a 1962 graduate of Warren High School.
She was a member of Green Hill Council Girl Scouts attending two international round ups with an attendance of over 10,000 women and girls.
Susan was a local Registered Nurse serving area hospitals and completing her career at River Bluff Nursing Home.
Surviving are her son, Spencer Fransen of Dixon; her daughters, Heather (Ernie) Struve of Sabula, Iowa and Laura Fransen of Rockford; her brother, James (Noel Matkin) Sincox of Tucson, AZ; her sister, Sharon (Robert Cook of Warren; six grandchildren, Lindsey Furniss, Royal Scheider, Nol Furniss, Paul (LaTonya) Struve, Matthew (Jackie) Struve, Joshua (Shaina) Anspach; six great grandchildren; her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Peter Sincox.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., February 15, 2014 at Walker Mortuary.
Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service February 15 2014 at Walker Mortuary.
Burial of her cremated remains will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Warren.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
