Susan K. Pommerening "Sue", age 70 of Freeport, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home. Sue was born on December 16, 1950 to Wilbur and Audrey (Perdue) Pommerening and went to Freeport High School, graduating in 1969.
Sue was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Chicago White Sox and NASCAR races. Although she lived all of her life in Freeport, she did spend a great deal of time traveling and seeing family. One of Sue's favorite pastimes was enjoying the many activities her nieces and nephews participated in.
Sue founded and coached the Freeport Fastbacks Softball team for many years. She worked for the Freeport School District 145 as a Bus Driver for five years. She also worked at Honeywell Sensing and Control for thirty-seven and a half years.
Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two sisters, Donna (Jerry) Malloy of Channelview, TX and Sally (Delbert) Bunker; her sister in-law, Jenny Cox of Barron, WI; three brothers: Bill (Marla) Pommerening of Freeport, Dave (Melanie) Pommerening of Polo, IL, Jim Cox of Buckley, WA; many nieces and nephews, and her life-long best friend, Christine Camerer of Freeport.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters: Lorraine Tempel and Peggy Pommerening and two brothers: Edward Cox and Merrel Pommerening, sister in-law Erica Cox and her two fur babies: Bella and Lucky.
A committal service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com
