Susan J. Yorka (Novak) died peacefully at home on September 26, 2020 in Freeport, Illinois at the age of 70.

Sue is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dennis Yorka, and by her two daughters Jenny (Brian) Kearney of Centralia, Washington and Wendy (Matthew) Franczak of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

Sue was born on November 11, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Gertrude Novak. She lived in many places in Illinois as well as LaValle, Wisconsin; Hawthorne, Nevada; and Huntsville, Texas.

Before retiring, she took great pride in team truck driving with her husband and travelled all over the country. In 2018, they dubbed themselves "Team Perogi" and won the Illinois State fair Brain Games (Trivia) Competition. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 2313.

We remember her as a strong and generous person who loved gardening and reading. She was a very talented seamstress and loved to crochet. She often shared her handiwork with those she loved, which we will continue to cherish.

A service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on September 29, 2020 at Walker Mortuary in Freeport, Illinois with a visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. A gathering will follow the service at 4 Seasons Bowling Center.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sue's life.
