Bradford, IL- On Monday morning July 30, 2007 The Reverend Paul D. Votaw Sr., 90, went to be with the Lord he loved and served so faithfully. Reverend Votaw was born in Kansas City, MO to LeMoine David and Edna Francis Votaw on June 20, 1917. He was the third of four children. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College in 1941 and earned post graduate degrees in theology from both Dallas Theological Seminary and Princeton Theological Seminary. On April 1, 1945 he was ordained a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church. The following year on December 1st Reverend Votaw Married Betty Brown also of Kansas City. For the next five years they served together as missionaries in Aleppo, Syria. Following their service as missionaries Reverend Votaw served as assistant minister at First Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, PA; senior minister and minister emeritus of Gashland Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO; and as pastor of Dakota Community Presbyterian Church in Dakota, IL. He and Betty spent their retirement years, 1985 to the present in Freeport, IL.
