Obituary

Dakota: Thelma E. Hugelshofer, 97 of Dakota died Friday October 26, 2007 at the FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Born August 1, 1910 in Rock Run Township she was the daughter of George F. and Sadie (Stemm) Wise. On January 23, 1930 she married Albert J. Hugelshofer in rural Dakota. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1997. Thelma began elementary school at Mt. Hope and then attended Dakota grade school and graduated from Dakota High School in 1928. In addition to being a homemaker Thelma also was employed at the Dakota Post Office for many years. She was a member of Dakota Community Presbyterian Church, a 50 year member and a past Grand Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lodge # 470 in Davis. Thelma enjoyed painting, playing the piano, drawing, and hooking rugs. She also loved gardening, traveling and feeding her backyard birds. Surviving is her son, Robert Hugelshofer of Plantation, FL; 4 Grandchildren; Scott Meinert, of Dakota, Holly (John) Abbuehl of Tampa, FL, Kurt (Nadja) Hugelshofer of Jupiter, FL and Lori (Scott) Moore of North Lauderdale, FL; 5 Great grandchildren, Jessica and Robert Meinert, Ally Abbuehl, Garrett and Landon Moore; numerous Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one Daughter, Virginia Meinert; Daughter-In-Law, Doraine Hugelshofer; 2 Sisters and 2 Brothers. Order of the Eastern Star service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Dakota with the Funeral service immediately following. The Reverend L. Timothy Kidd of the Dakota Community Presbyterian Church will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service at the Funeral Home.
