Obituary

Theodore Ralph Carpenter, 101, of Freeport, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Parkview Home.
Born August 29, 1912, in Spring Green, Wisconsin, he was the son of Charles and Rachel (Voss) Carpenter.
He married Dorothy Farnsworth June 20, 1938, and she preceded him in death. He married Jeanette Roodhouse January 6, 1978.
Ted graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College where he edited the Royal Purple school newspaper. He received his Master's in Business Administration from University of Wisconsin in Madison. He taught in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and Highland Park, Illinois.
He was with District 145 for 36 years. He taught at Freeport High School from 1940-49, and in 1950 he became assistant superintendent for business affairs and secretary to the board of education. He retired in 1976.
His memberships included 50 plus years at Faith United Methodist Church and Excelsior Masonic Lodge Number 97.
A trumpet player, he played in various musical groups including the Freeport Park Band. He was an avid bridge player, fisherman, gardener, and enjoyed Airstream caravans.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette, of Freeport; his daughters, Ann L. Smith and Janet (Dennis) Wicks both of Freeport; his son, David L. (Carmen) Carpenter of Adams, Wisconsin; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and three stepchildren and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; two brothers; two sisters; and his son-law, Arthur V. Smith.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Parkview Home. Burial will be in Spring Green Cemetery in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
