Davis

Theodore Eugene Kramer, age 71, of Davis, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026.

Ted was born on February 10, 1954, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the son of Eugene and Ruby Kramer. He graduated from Dakota High School in 1972 and married Sally Horstmeier in 1975. He spent his life rooted in community, family, and service—values that defined him and the legacy he leaves behind.

Ted owned and operated the family hardware store in Pecatonica, a place that became far more than a business. It was a gathering spot, a source of trusted advice, and a reflection of Ted himself—dependable, welcoming, and generous with his time. He was a well-loved and respected member of the community, known for his warmth, friendliness, and willingness to help anyone who walked through the door.

In addition to his work, Ted proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Davis and Pecatonica Fire Departments, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to serving others.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Ruby Kramer, and by his beloved wife, Sally Kramer.

He is survived by his fiancée, Lin Hendricks; his sons and their families: Luke Kramer, his wife, Sarah, and their son Leo; Logan Kramer, his wife, Erin, and their children, Emalyn, Ava, and Kamden. He is also survived by his brother, William Kramer, his wife, Sally, and their children, Ross Kramer, Dana Workman, and Leah Seagren.

Ted also held a close and special relationship with his late wife's family and is lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law, Nancy Cronin, and her daughters, Candice Constantine and Amanda Stubbe.

Ted was a warm and friendly man, deeply loved by his family, friends, and the many community members whose lives he touched. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his kindness, service, and dedication to others will be long remembered.

The family will hold a private graveside service. A celebration of Ted's life will be announced in the spring.  Condolences can be shared with the family at www.walkermortuary.com .  The family was assisted by Daughenbaugh Funeral Home of Dakota.
