Theora M. DeGroff, 86 formerly of Dakota died Saturday December 26, 2009 at Provena Nursing Center in Freeport. Born January 1, 1923 she was the daughter of Walter and Vivian (Shippy) Reuber. Theora was a 1941 graduate of Dakota High School. On February 1, 1942 she and Harry E. DeGroff were married in Davis. She worked many years for the Water and Sewer Department for the City of Dakota. She enjoyed spending time with her husband at their cottage in Beaver Dam, WI and was an avid Bingo player. Surviving are five daughters Judy (Lester) Wise of Cedarville, Pat (Gary) Cuplin and Sandy (Don) Christen, both of Freeport, Cindy (Neil) Klinger of Pecatonica and Diane Halzel of Freeport; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; one sister Marion Barr of Middleton, WI; two brothers Merle (Lois) Reuber of Tucson, AZ, and Lyle (Rosemary) Reuber of Freeport.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, one brother, two sisters and two great grandsons.
Visitation will be Monday from 5pm until 7pm at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home Dakota.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Tuesday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home with the Reverend Alden Nickerson officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota Cemetery and a memorial fund has been established in her name.
