Thomas Angelo Cali, known to his loved ones as Tom, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023, in Lebanon, OH, at the age of 85 after a brief battle with cancer. Born on April 13, 1938, in Freeport, IL, Tom was the beloved husband of the late Ellen (Rood) Cali, and the son of Sarafina (DiModica) and Causim Cali, who preceded him in death.
Tom was a dedicated family man and is survived by his daughters, Jill (Bruce) Entwistle of Silver Spring, MD, and Julie (Kevin) Dailey of Morrow, OH. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Lee Entwistle, Cas (Ashley Burns) Entwistle, Laura (Tim) Jones, Alyssa Dailey, Jason Wages, Jenna Wages, Corrina Dailey and by his great granddaughter, Willow Entwistle. Tom also had a special friend and companion, Peggy Flanigan, who brought much joy to his life.
In his early years, Tom attended Freeport Senior High School before embarking on a military career. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years.
Following his military service, Tom dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. After retiring, he continued to work at Sullivan's Foods.
Tom was an avid sports fan, especially cheering for the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Golfing brought him great joy, and he loved the soothing melodies of Frank Sinatra and Big Band music. He was also a devout Catholic and loved God and Jesus.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Walker Mortuary from 4-6pm. A ceremony celebrating Tom's life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 704 S. State St., Freeport, IL 61032 on Friday, October 13th at 10:30am.
