Thurlow Norman "Shorty" Blair,83, of Freeport, died Thursday, February 7, 2008, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born September 4, 1924 in Pearl City he was the son of Walter and Tresea (Koch) Blair. He married Barbara E. Feld June 19, 1949.
He worked for SC Bartlet in Shannon, Vohlken Brothers Dairy, Union Dairy, and then Deans Food in Pecatonica. After his retirement he worked for Spotless Image.
He was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church and Freeport Loyal Order of the Moose, and the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club.
Surviving is his wife, Barbara of Freeport; 1 daughter, Mary (Richard) Gill of Freeport; 3 sons, Douglas (Victoria) Blair of Orion, David (Donna) Blair of Freeport, and Duane Blair of Everett, Washington; 1 sister, Eillen Buss of Freeport; 3 brothers, Dale (Nancy) Blair and Jerry (Joyce) Blair both of Lanark, and Norman (Wava) Blair of LeSuer, Minnesota; 6 grandchildren, Christopher (Kelli) Gill of Freeport, Matthew Gill and his friend, Janet Swanson of Chicago, Josef (Melinda) Blair of Leeds, Maine, Cali (Matthew) Smith of Rock Island, Andrew Blair Whitmer of Freeport, and Michael Blair of Michigan; his former granddaughter in-law, Mary E. Van Raden of Freeport; 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister; and 2 brothers.
Funeral service will be Monday 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Pastor Mark Balmer of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday 3 to 6 pm. at Walker Mortuary.
