Tyrone E. Newton (Birdy, to his family), age 49 of Rocky Hill, CT, formerly of Freeport, IL; the Lord took Tyrone home suddenly on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. He was born October 15, 1969 in Freeport, IL; the son of Emanuel and Constance (Taylor) Newton. He married the love of his life, Rebecca Smith on December 20, 2003, to whom he was fiercely devoted. He was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church, and was an altar boy and received his first communion at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Tyrone devoted his life to Christ. Tyrone graduated from Aquin Central Catholic High School and received his B.S. in Telecommunications from DeVry University. He was completing his MBA at Albertus Magnus at the time of his passing. He served in the United States Air Force as an A1C – F16/A10 Avionics Test Standardization and Computer Specialist. While in the Air Force he served as a squad leader, received the AF Outstanding Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, and the AF Traveling Ribbon. He lived his life enjoying time with family and friends, listening to all types of music, reading or listening to the Bible, learning and using all types of technology, and participating in a great debate. He loved showing visiting family and friends around New England and loved to travel to see new places. Tyrone worked for AT&T Global Network Services (formerly IBM Technical Services) in Schaumburg, IL after receiving his Bachelor's degree. His current employer was UTC – Pratt & Whitney, where he held many positions within the Digital Technology organization, his most current being as a Project Manager, Data Analytics & Visualization. At P&W, he was one of the first to receive the prestigious designation of ACE Practioner (P&W Quality System) and served the organization as a BAER (Business Area Export Representative). Tyrone is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Newton of Rocky Hill, CT, his father, Emanuel Newton of Freeport, IL, three brothers, Richard Newton and Terrence Newton, both of Freeport, IL, and Maurice Muhammad of Bloomington, IL, numerous Aunts and Uncles, three nephews, two nieces, two great-nephews, two great-nieces, and hundreds of cousins. Tyrone is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Donna and Duane DeVoe of Lena, IL. He is preceded in death by his mother, Constance B. Newton, sister, Phyllis "Lori" Newton, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tyrone was a righteous man who is now joyfully dancing in Heaven. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 625 Country Lane, Lena, IL. There will be a visitation before the service at St. John's Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Internment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the "Tyrone Newton Memorial Fund" (c/o Donna DeVoe, 605 S. Schuyler, Lena, IL 61048) would be greatly appreciated.
