Freeport – Ulan "Dukes" R. Price, 79 of Freeport passed away at Amberwood Care Centre of Rockford on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 after a courageous battle with serious health issues over the past several years. He was born on July 25, 1942 to the late Donald and Royletta (Kilian) Price in Green County Wisconsin.  He married Cynthia Thoren on February 11, 1967 at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna in Davis, IL and together they raised a family.

He graduated from Le-Win High School in 1960.  He worked in construction for 34 years at JH Patterson CO and then Gitz-Meier Remodeling Contractors before retiring.  He was a faithful member of St. John United Church of Christ of Freeport where he served on the church council and building maintenance.  He also was a member of the Masonic Evergreen Lodge of Freeport serving as a Past Master.

He was an avid Packer fan and a season ticket holder for many years attending hundreds of games.  He was a youth baseball coach and umpire for 25 years.  He served in the US Army First Infantry Division in the Vietnam War from 1964-1966.  His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Surviving him are his wife, Cindy of Freeport; son, Shane Price of Janesville, WI; daughter, Tiffany (Scott) Simanek of Long Grove, IL; Brother, Wayne (Lou) Price of Orangeville; grandchildren Lainey, Ethan and Josie Simanek as well as a niece Cara Arand and nephew Cory Price.

Preceding him in death are his parents, sister, Karen Price and brother, Terry Price.  His mother and father in-law, Harold and Sylvia Thoren and Sister-in-law, Nancy Thoren.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2022 beginning at 9am – 11am at St. John United Church of Christ, Freeport.  There will be a service immediately following at 11am.  His final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Freeport.
