Viola Keister , age 93 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She was born July 31, 1924 in Webster, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Bojen) Schoonhoven.

Viola attended Baileyville Grade School and graduated from Forreston High School in 1942. Viola worked in the Orin Busker grocery store in Baileyville, Burgess Battery, Kautenbergs, Structo and retired from Micro in 1989. In her earlier years she enjoyed playing softball, bowling, roller skating and quilting with her sister, Evelyn.

Survivors are a daughter, Sharon (friend Dave) Hastings; Son, Jerry (friend Shirley) Keister of Davis, IL; grandchildren, William Veer of Freeport, Sarah (Corben) Webb of Freeport, Jennifer (Andrew) Ruhl of Scottsdale, AZ, and Blaine Keister of Elizabeth, PA; great grandchildren, Lillian & Temple Webb of Freeport, Lauren, Liselle & Luther Ruhl of Scottsdale, AZ; her sister, Evelyn Nichols of Coralville, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents; four sisters, Ruth (Ernie) Philhower, Josephine Ruter, Grace (Andrew) Anderson, Ethel (Dan) Kochsmeier; and a brother, Sherman 'Poe" Schoonhoven.
