Freeport – Violet G. Shick, 92 of Freeport passed away peacefully at home with family at her side.  Violet was born on August 21, 1929 in Ashton, Il to the late Obrey and Mabel (Henson) Burkitt.  She married Robert Shick on June 9, 1950.  He passed away on August 31, 1985.

Violet was a member of the Four Square Church and she loved to travel, boat and fish.  She also worked at Micro Switch for 23+ years. She was known for being a wonderful homemaker and taking great care of her family.

She is survived by her Granddaughters, Tracey (Craig Kriens) Brooks; Mandy (Jamie) Pfeiffer and Heidi Shick all of Freeport.  Daughter-in-law, Carolyn Shick also of Freeport.  Her legacy also includes 9 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Randy Shick; sister Ada Mae Brown; Brothers Cleve, Ivan and Jim Burkitt; and grandson Michael Funk.

Services will be Monday, March 21 ^st with a visitation beginning at 10am at Walker Mortuary followed by a service at 11:30 also at Walker Mortuary.  Her final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens next to her husband.
