Virginia "Chick" May Thomas, 67, of Dakota, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014, at Medina Nursing Center in Durand.
Born December 17, 1946 in Freeport she was the daughter of Albert and Grace (Miller) Bingner. Chick married Linden Thomas on December 10, 1966 at St. Paul Epleyana Church. They were married 47 ½ wonderful years in which they had two beautiful children, Kerry and Shana.
Her last years were spent working at Stone's Hallmark in Freeport. She dearly loved the people she worked with and her customers.
On New Year's Eve of 2011 she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
Having accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior in October of 1983 Chick had a strong faith in her Lord & Savior which gave her the strength to fight the battle.
Surviving are her husband, Linden of Dakota; her son, Kerry (Kimberlee) Thomas of Lena; her daughter, Shana (Michael) Jones of Byron; her grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, and Amber Thomas and Kiley Jones; her sisters, Gladys (Roger) Meinert, Joann (Jack) Lausch; brothers, Roger Bingner, Marv Bingner; mother-in-law, Leona Thomas of Dakota; brother-in-law, Forest Clark; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Reva Clark; sister-in-law, Wilma Bingner; father-in-law, Lowell Thomas.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Faith Community Church, 212 West McKinney Street in Davis. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the church. Burial will be in the Pioneers Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Faith Community Church in Davis and for Leonard Ferguson Cancer Center in Freeport.
