Virginia C. "Jenny" Rice, 67, of Rockford, formerly of Freeport, died Saturday, December 24, 2011, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Born August 2, 1944 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of George A. and Florence V. (Simmons) Lehman.
Jenny worked for many years at the Freeport Salvation Army. She then did seasonal work for Big Lots in Freeport.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Jody J. Jackson of Rockford and Tiara L. (Tim) Kaiser of Freeport; 1 son, George R. (Angie) Conner of Rockford; 3 sisters, Thelma (Ken) Kohnen of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Georgette (Reggie) Ridenour of Brooklyn Park, Maryland, Josie Brunner of West Minister, Maryland; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and her half-brother, Ernie Lehman of Baltimore, Maryland; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister, Florence V. Treadwell; 1 grandchild, Stephanie Barker.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Walker Mortuary.
