Virginia K. Parker, 87, of Freeport, formerly of Warren, died Thursday March 24, 2011 at Manor Court of Liberty Village.
Born July 22, 1923 in Chicago, she was the daughter of William E. and Lillian (Hopkins) Kehoe.
She attended schools in Chicago and Brookfield and later married Charles Parker on October 26, 1946, in Wheaton. He preceded her in death in 1997.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeport.
Virginia enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren, traveling with her sister, Ruth, and watching the Chicago White Sox. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She was adored by each of them and will be greatly missed.
Virginia is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Peter) Stiefel of Pearl City and Betty (Mark) Peterson of Oregon, WI; five granddaughters, Jocelyn Stiefel of Chicago, Katrina (Levi) Lartz of Lena, Melissa Stiefel of Pearl City, Kelle Peterson of Rochester, Minnesota and Michelle Peterson of Oregon, WI; three great grandchildren Shanna Lartz, Weston Lartz, and Parker Lartz all of Lena; two sisters, Dorothy Kelecich of Hollywood, FL and Ruth Taylor of Normal; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, her brother Bill, and her brother in-law, Russell Taylor.
In accordance with Virginia's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Interment will take place at Ladies Union Cemetery at Stockton. Memorials may be made to the Stephenson County Senior Center.
