Rockford-Virginia L. Ulrich, 79, a resident of Fairhaven in Rockford, formerly of Freeport, died Monday, November 13, 2006, at Swedish American Hospital.
Born February 27, 1927 in Stephenson County she was the daughter of Milford and Helen (Stout) Richard. She married Albert "Al" Ulrich July 22, 1947 and he died November 16, 1988.
A 1944 Freeport High School graduate she received her Associates Degree from Highland Community College in 1973.
She was a charter member at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport.
Virginia and her husband owned and operated the Ulrich House Restaurant in their home for 28 years.
She was a bookkeeper at Highland Community College for 10 years and for the Green Hills Council for four years retiring in 1982.
Surviving is her daughter, Susan (Duane) Schmidt of Roscoe; 5 granddaughters, Janice (Mike) McKee of Loves Park, Anita (Fiancé Mark McCallum) Cary of Machesney Park, Arlene (Robbie) Weber of Fishers, Indiana, Andrea Cary of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jennifer (Charles Jr.) O'Brien of Rockton; 11 great grandchildren, Miranda, Michael Jr., Nathan, Allison, Jacob, Megan, Ryan, Abby, Emily, Charles III, and Logan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral service will be Friday 11 a.m. at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church with Reverend Tom McClellan officiating. Burial will be in the Cedarville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 10 a.m. until time of service at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
