Vivian C. Pals, age 87 of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She was born May 19, 1929; the daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Huyck) Finkbeiner. She was a 1947 graduate of Freeport High School. Vivian and Robert Pals were married on May 26, 1962; he preceded her in death on July 29, 2000.
In her early years, she had worked for the telephone company then for Microswitch for 15 years. She also baked and decorated cakes and made candy for the Freeport area for 33 years. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. She enjoyed cross stitch, embroidery, and crocheting. Vivian was also an avid reader. In her later years she volunteered at RAMP and the Humane Society.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele (Brett) Piefer of Pearl City, IL; son, Mike Pals of Freeport; and grandsons, Ryan & Dylan Piefer and Mike II & Tony Pals. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and brother, Milton Finkbeiner.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The funeral service will be Saturday, March 4th at 11:00 am at St. John United Church of Christ with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name
