Obituary

Walter Alber, age 88 of Monroe, WI passed away peacefully in his home on February 19, 2020.
He was born on June 30th, 1931, the son of the late Willy and Emma (Klotz) Alber. He was a lifelong farmer on Damascus Road, four miles west of Cedarville. He married Regina Keleher from Elizabeth, IL on Feb 12th, 1955.
He was a dedicated and strong 4-H leader for 28 years. He was strongly involved at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lena, IL for many years, and was instrumental in many facets of the church.
He had a tremendous sense of humor, enjoyed life to the fullest, called his wife his "girlfriend", was always there for his children, and he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a 'man of his word' and diligent in all of his pursuits and endeavors.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, faithfulness, generosity, and a caring spirit to all who knew him, and of course his wit and sense of humor to top it off.
Walter is survived by his wife, Regina of Monroe, WI, daughter Ann (Jeff) Owens of Poway, CA; Sons Mark (Kim) Alber, Paul (Deb) Alber both of Freeport; son, Duane (Patricia) Alber of Indiana and son, Larry (Betsy) Alber of Red Oak, IL; his brothers, Herbert (Earlene) Alber of Tempe, AZ, Willy (Jean) Alber of Freeport, and Joe (Ellen) Alber of Missionviejo, CA; sisters, Irmgarde Drier of WI, Joann Motter of Freeport, IL, and Betty Keppen of Freeport, IL; and sister-in-law, Marj (Ted-deceased) Alber of Phoenix, AZ.
His grandchildren are Nick (Holly) Hull, Brad (Melissa) Hull, Sarah Alber, Andy Alber, Amanda (Lenny) Ferrer, Jenna (Brennan) Mowry, Kelsey Dash, and Clint Butthauser.
His great grandchildren are Morgan Hull, Carter Hull, Kendall Hull, Devin Hull, Lainey Hull, Nessa Hull, Landon Ferrer, Elle Ferrer, Elwood Mowry, Brennan Munoz and Lance Butthauser.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Willy & Emma Alber; brother, Ted Alber; and sisters, Edith Dadez, Mary Scudder, Rosie Pontnack, and Cecilia Alber.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport. The funeral mass will be Saturday, February 29th at 10:30 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established for St. Joseph Catholic Church and Monroe Clinic Hospice.
