Walter L. Bryant Sr., 75, of Freeport, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born February 4, 1934 in Hollingsworth, Missouri he was the son of Oscar and Maybell Bryant. He married Lois a Vincent June 15, 1967 and she died April 27, 2009.
Walter was an Oil Worker in Kansas and worked at Burgess Battery in Freeport.
Surviving are 2 sons, Samuel and Walter Bryant Jr. all of Freeport; 1 daughter, Laura Deihl of Rockford; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Carl of Kansas, William and Freddy both of Arkansas; 3 sisters, Andra and Sandra of Harrison, Arkansas and Elma May of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister; and 1 brother.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Joint memorial services will be held for Walter and Lois Bryant on Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Reverend Dr. Willis R. Schwichtenberg officiating.
Entombment of his cremated remains will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established Leonard Ferguson Cancer Center.
