Vladimir (Walter) Gladkin, age 65 of Lake Summerset, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport after a brief battle with cancer. He was born August 30, 1955 to Nikolai and Antonina Gladkin. He was a 1973 graduate of Dakota High School. He was united in marriage to Gayle (Morey) on September 5 ^th 1982.

He was a member of St. Vladmir Russian Orthodox Church of Lost Lake and was a valuable member of the Walker Mortuary & Daughenbuagh Funeral Home's team. In his younger years he worked with many wonderful people throughout the area as a business manager at car dealerships in Freeport, Belvidere and Durand, IL. He was the owner of Wally G's Bar (now Josh's Saloon) in Forreston for many years where he made many wonderful friends and was an integral part of the community. He was a larger than life, vibrant person who touched the lives of so many people with his kindness and compassionate nature.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Peter and Victor. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Gladkin of Lake Summerset; children, Lisa (Rob) Miller of Orangeville, IL, Amy Kampmier-Soto of Spring Lake, NC, Nikolaus (April) Gladkin of Raleigh, NC. He leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Justin (Courtney) Miller of Lena, Brandy Miller of Orangeville, Izzy Swalve of Spring Lake, NC and Ben Sequin of Raleigh, NC. He was adored by his great-grandchildren; Gracelynn, Gavin, Gragham and Gentry Miller.

A private visitation will be held at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL. The funeral service will take place at St. Vladmir Russian orthodox Church of Lost Lake. Interment will be at the Rock City Cemetery in Rock City which Wally managed for several years. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
