Obituary

Davis – Wayne W. Beckmeier, 79 of rural Davis passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on October 1, 2024. He was born on October 10, 1944, to the late William and Norma (Heitkam) Beckmeier. He attended Dakota HS and then entered the Army where he served from 1963-1965 as a marksman and earned a good conduct medal.

He married Karen Nyman on June 25, 1966, and together they raised a family. She passed on July 3, 2020. Wayne enjoyed many things in life including being a lifelong farmer, raising chickens and anything with feathers including pigeons, quail and pheasant. He loved to incubate the chicken eggs and watch them hatch. Gardening, making homemade wine, playing baseball, basketball, cards, and spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories were his favorite past times.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Ingrid (Mike) Noone of Midwest City, OK; sons, Eric (Karlene) Beckmeier of Rock City, Marcus (Karla) Beckmeier of Freeport and Aaron (Heather) Beckmeier of German Valley, IL. Grandchildren, Chevin (Melissa) Noone, Kendra (Jake) Anderson, Kyle (Laura) Bolen, Jackie Reuber, Daniel Reuber, Mercedes (Cody Meighan) Reuber, Noel Beckmeier, Brayden Beckmeier and Kaylee Beckmeier; great grandchildren, Lillie Reuber, Case Sullivan, Nova and Renee Meighan, Colin and Cecily Anderson and Ella Bolen; Sister-in-law, Shirley (Scott) Rogers of Eau Claire WI., and their children, Brother-in-law, Doug Nyman of Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Norma Beckmeier; his in-laws, Floyd and Grace Nyman; his sisters, Carolyn Groshans and Marlene Beckmeier; Brother-in-law Jeff Nyman and sister-in-law Marcia (Keith) Lentz.

The family would like to personally thank Northern Illinois Hospice, Doug Nyman, Missy and Michael Oller, McKayla, Maverick and Maddox Oller, Joe and Matt Lentz, as well as Aaron and Heather Beckmeier and their children for the love and care of Dad throughout the last few years.

There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, October 8 beginning at 1pm at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota with a service to follow at 2pm. Wayne's final resting place will be at Davis cemetery next to Karen.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
