Freeport – Wayne E. Herrmann, 87 of Freeport died on Sunday, March 14 ^th , with his family by his side at Parkview Home in Freeport.  He was born on September 29, 1933 in Freeport to the late Wilbur and Mary (Heckelsmiller) Herrmann.  He attended Orangeville School and graduated in 1951. He then married Arline Rutter on May 12, 1954.  He served in the army from 1954-1956. Arline passed away September 21, 2019.

Wayne worked at Fairbanks Morse, Stover Steel Tank, California Pellet Mill and Anchor Harvey until his retirement in 1998.  He belonged to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Freeport. He was an avid bowler and secretary for his bowling league for many years.  He loved watching the Cubs and the Bears.  He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports as much as possible.

He is survived by his sons, Wyatt Herrmann of Orangeville and Gregg (Pamela) Herrmann of Rockford, IL; daughters, Vickie (James) DeFranco of Davis, and Ginger (Thomas) Holbert of Freeport. Sisters-in-law, Irene Rutter of Red Oak and Lois Herrmann of Tucson, AZ; brothers-in-law, Richard (Carol) Rutter of Lena and Todd (Corlyn) Rutter of Springfield, IL as well as many nieces and nephews.

His legacy includes 6 grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; his brother, Donald Herrmann, his sister, Carol Hille, his brother-in-law, Frank Rutter.

Services will be Saturday, March 20 ^th at Walker Mortuary in Freeport.  Visitation will begin at 10am followed by a service at 11am with Pastor Karen Tews officiating.  His final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with his wife, Arline.
