Freeport-Wayne E. Hutchison, 83, of Freeport, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at FHN Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Born September 6, 1923 in Stockton he was the son of James E. and Fannie (Fennel) Hutchison. He married Elvina "Toss" Louise Crosby Pitterle on June 29, 1962.
Wayne attended Stockton High School and received a teaching degree from Northern Illinois State Teachers College (NIU)
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943.
He worked for National Lock Company, Central Illinois Electric and Gas Company, ran a dairy route for Oatman Brothers in Aurora, and owned Randy's Meat Business. Wayne retired from State of Illinois after 16 years of service.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Freeport Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Wayne enjoyed playing cards, gardening, singing, entering contest, and was an avid reader.
Surviving is his wife, Elvina "Toss" Hutchison of Freeport; son, Michael (Beth) Hutchison of Freeport; his children from a previous marriage, Jim (Carol) Hutchison, Jane Christianson, David M. Hutchison all from Seattle, WA, Judith Hutchison of Canada, Tim (Margo) Bainbridge of Chicago; two stepsons, Randall (Carolyn) Pitterle of Rockford David (Cindy) Pitterle of Roscoe; one brother, Kenneth (Alfia) Hutchison of Arizona; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Warren; step-daughter, Mary Lou Miller.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial service will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Reverend Burt Absalon officiating.
Visitation Saturday 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
