Obituary

Freeport-Wilbur R. "Mike" Rosenstiel 77, of Freeport, died Friday, October 1, 2004, at his home.
Born August 24, 1927 in Freeport he was the son of Stanley and Mildred (Jacobs) Rosenstiel. He married Edith M. Grunder November 19, 1950.
Mike worked for Kraft Foods, Burgess Battery, Fairbanks Morse, and then for 25 years at Kelly Springfield Tire Company until his retirement.
He was a World War II Navy veteran serving from 1945 to 1949.
Mike's memberships included, St. John United Church of Christ, lifetime member of V.F.W., American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose, Genealogical Society, and Rock Run Historical Society.
An avid wood worker he was active in his church, served Meals on Wheels and for 10 years was a volunteer driver for the local Veteran's Administration.
Surviving are his wife, Edith of Freeport; son, Terry (Kathi) Rosenstiel of Vernon Hills; daughter, Linda (Gary) Vandre of Mahomet; grandchildren, Kaitlin Rosenstiel of Vernon Hills, Brian and Mike Vandre both of Mahomet; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be Monday 10:30 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Donnley Dutcher officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for St. John United Church of Christ.
