Wilbur W. Washburn, 86, of Freeport, died Friday, October 24, 2008, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born January 9, 1922 in Freeport he was the son of Alfred and Lillian (Ruthe) Washburn. He married Natalie E. Staas June 19, 1943 in Freeport. She died December 18, 1990 in Freeport.
Wilbur was a Mail Carrier in Freeport for 30 years.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW.
Surviving are 2 sons, Richard W. (Anna) Washburn of Naguabo, Puerto Rico and Roger W. Washburn of Freeport; 2 brothers, Robert (Esther) Washburn of Scottsdale, Arizona and Alfred (Shirley) Washburn of Freeport; 2 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral service will be Monday 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial has been established for Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
