Wilda Ray Steele, 90, of Freeport, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born March 25, 1922 in Boynton Beach, Florida she was the daughter of Eston and Ruby (Spafford) Hodges. She married Victor "Doc" Steele February 2, 1992 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 1999.
An Artist, Wilda enjoyed teaching art and painting pictures. She also enjoyed her neighbors
Surviving is her daughter, Bobbie Lee Wagman of Janesville, Wisconsin; 1 son, Allen Ray Kettle of Oregon; 1 sister, Lillian Enge of Loves Park; 1 brother, Weems Hodges of Rockford; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and her special neighbor, Gordon Erickson of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son, Bruce Bradley Kettle; 2 brothers Eston and Bruce Hodges; 2 sisters, Francis Dale and Lois Beasley.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 in the Chapel of Peace at Oakland Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
