William "Bill" A. Meinert, age 67 of Dakota, IL passed away Saturday, January 06, 2018 at home. He was born July 26, 1950 in Freeport to the late Shirl and Carleen (Dascher) Meinert. Bill married Laraine Buisker in Davis, IL on April 15, 1972. He graduated from Dakota High School.

Bill was employed at Honeywell for 47 years as a Tool and Die Maker. He enjoyed motorsports of all kinds, playing euchre, fishing, camping and boating. He loved animals and feeding the birds. Bill's happy place was the campground near Schapville, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Laraine of Dakota; his daughter, Heather (Steve) Menke of Forreston; his granddaughters, Zoe and Piper Menke; his brother, Dean (Robin) Meinert of Rock City; his brothers-in-law Ted (Sue) Buisker of Davis and Al (Jayne) Buisker of Freeport; his sisters-in-law Linda Weiand of AZ and Beth (Dennis Yeager) Buisker of Freeport; and many nieces and nephews; special friends, Steve and Marsha Meinert of Milwaukee and Mike and Pat Busjahn of Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirl and Carleen Meinert of Davis and his beloved dog, Minya.
