William St. Clair "Bill" Myers, 85, of Freeport, died Friday, December 9, 2011, at the University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Born May 29, 1926 in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania he was the son of Oscar and Lilly (Bell) Myers. He married Dorothy June Heeter June 24, 1950. She died August 24, 2007.
Bill was a World War II Army veteran.
He worked for Fairbanks Morris, Central Cable, and Kelly Springfield Tire Company from which he retired.
Bill loved life, enjoyed time with his family, had a good sense of humor, was an avid traveler, and was a good friend and good neighbor.
Surviving are one son, Terry W. (Nancy Jo) Myers of Tigard, Oregon; one daughter, Barbara J. (Reverend Ken) Lawson of Freeport; 1 step-daughter, Sherrie (Ron) Ritchie of Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren, Julie (Peter) Skepnek of Stockton, Matthew (Carrie) Lawson of Warren, Sarah Lawson of Delavan, Wisconsin, Melissa Myers, and Corey Myers of Tigard, Oregon; 3 step grandchildren, Steven Ritchey of Las Vegas, Nevada, Michael (Kim) Richey of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Kim (Jim) Young of Blue Knob, Pennsylvania ; 16 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Casper Myers of Huntington, Pennsylvania; 4 sisters, Martha Carson of California, Rebecca Boring of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Ellen Hakenan of Nanty-Glo, Pennsylvania, and Betty Smith of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 sisters; 3 brothers; and 1 great grandson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend John Hollis of First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for the Leonard Ferguson Cancer Center.
