William R. Reed, age 61 of Lena, IL, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. He was born March 6, 1955 to William and Edith (Feld) Reed. He was raised by William and Katie Reed. He attended Freeport High School. William married Kathleen Vautsmeier on October 24, 1972 in Las Vegas, NV.

He had served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad and was also an over the road trucker. William enjoyed racing motocross, taking pictures and listening to music. He loved camping and fishing with his children.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Reed of Lena; mother, Katie Reed; sons, William (Tiffany) Reed Jr. of Lena, Cori (Cassie) Reed of McConnell, IL and Dan Reed of Lena; daughters, Machelle (Tenelle) Shepler of Michigan City, IN and Renee Reed of McConnell; grandchildren, Patrick, Clayton, Owen, Lacie, Max and Riley; brother, Jeff Reed of Lena; and sisters, Diane Toepfer of Freeport an Laurie (Ben) Garcia of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his father, William; mother, Edith; grandson, Ethan; and sister, Linda.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 9th from 1:00 to 6:00 pm at the Jane Adams Center in Cedarville, IL. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
