Obituary

Freeport-Wilma N. Hamer, 94, of Freeport, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Parkview Home.
Born March 6, 1911 in Atlanta, Illinois she was the daughter of William H. and Minnie (Hartman) Neel. She married Philip T. Hamer June 6, 1937 and he died March 8, 1988.
She was a graduate of Atlanta Community High School and Lincoln College.
A teacher for 17 ½ years she taught at Atlanta Junior High School and 7th grade in Pecatonica.
Her memberships included Embury United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Simper Fidel's Sunday School Class, Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Abraham Lincoln Chapter of DAR in Lincoln.
An avid Penn State fan she enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving is her granddaughter, Jennifer (Roger) Hamer-Maansson of Wilmington, DE ; daughter in-law, Frieda Hamer of Haddonfield, NJ; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son, Dr. Thomas P. Hamer; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Funeral service will be Saturday 1:30 p.m. at Parkview Home with Dr. Gerald Robey of the home officiating...
Visitation will be Saturday 12 noon until time of service at Parkview Home.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials have been established for Embury United Methodist Church and Parkview Home.
