Obituary

Wilma Schulz, age 85 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 15, 2017. She was born August 29, 1932; the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Rabe) Gartman. She married Leonard E. Schulz Sr. on October 4, 1947.

Wilma worked for Micro Switch for 28 years. She enjoyed reading, listening to country music and planting flowers. She was a wonderful cook and was known for making the best chocolate chip cookies. Wilma loved camping with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren and her dog (her baby), Sam.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Leonard of Freeport; sons, Leonard E. Schulz Jr. of Freeport and Wayne Schulz of Shellsburg, WI; daughters, Diana (David) Jones of Madison, WI, Linda (William) Paxton of Rockton, IL, and Theresa Schulz of Freeport; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and sisters, Gwendelyn Kampa of Lawton, OK, Marilyn Irwin of El Paso, TX, and Sandra Munch of Melbourne, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Eric Schulz and Kathleen Schulz; brothers, Jimmy, David and Charles Gartman; and sister, Pricilla Foley.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 18 th form 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The funeral service will be Thursday, October 19 th at 11:00 am with a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 am also at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Blomberg presiding. Interment will take place at the Lena Burial Park in Lena, IL. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
