Freeport: Zerita E. Wagner, 88 of Freeport died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Manor Court in Liberty Village, Freeport. Born April 1, 1921 in Thomson, IL she was the daughter of George and Ethel (Gaar) Potter. On June 5, 1943 she married Theron Wagner in Waco, TX. He preceded her in death in July of 1984. Zerita worked for J.C. Penney's for over 22 years retiring in 1992 and was a member of Embury United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Ken) Mette of Wayne; 2 sons, Robert (Carol) Wagner of Bolingbrook and Roger Wagner of Dillingham, Alaska; 5 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; 1 sister, LeVona (Lauren) Mitchell of Geneso; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 2 brothers. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Embury United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cedarville Cemetery, Cedarville, IL.
