Freeport-Nellie M. Bowers, 97 , of Freeport, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mt. Carroll.
Born January 11, 1908 in Freeport she was the daughter of Nelson and Ida (Bardell) Geiger. She married Delbert Bowers June 4, 1928 and he died in 1965.
She worked at Micro Switch until her retirement.
Nellie was a life time member of Ladies of the Moose.
She enjoyed bowling and playing golf and her dog Sheena.
Surviving is her son, James (Marjorie) Bowers of Freeport; 2 grandchildren, Michael J. (Susan) Bowers of Rockford and Jeffrey L. (Lezlie) Bowers of Waterloo, Iowa; 2 great grandchildren, Lucas M. (Shannon) Bowers of Oswego and Megan E. Bowers of Dubuque, Iowa; 1 niece, Maxine Christen of Freeport; 1 sister in-law, Edith Dorsey of Freeport; grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son; 2 sisters; 1 brother.
Funeral service will be Saturday 11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Don Jamerson of First Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Saturday 10 a.m. until time of service at the Mortuary.
