Freeport: Warren W. Swank, 93 of Freeport died Tuesday December 2, 2008 at his home. Born March 11, 1915 in Michigan he was the son of Jay and Ruth (Virgil) Swank. On May 5, 1943 he married Jesse Cooper and she preceded him in death in 1985. Warren was a auto mechanic at Meyers Ford until his retirement in the early 1980's he was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ a veteran of WWII, Boy Scout Master and for years a member of the Order of the Arrow and Troop leader for Troop 12, He also was an advisor to the Ouray Indian Dancers. Surviving are his 2 daughters, Linda (Norman) Stilson and Laura (Joseph) Kearney both of Freeport; 2 sons, Roger (Ida Kathryn) Swank of New York, and Glen (Phyllis) Swank of California; 1 sister, Marjorie Huffman of Indiana; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; his special care givers, Elizabeth Johnson, Sandra Sutton, Shirley Williams and Carrie Hart. He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 son, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Bethany United Church of Christ with the Reverend Jean Carmean officiating. Burial will be in Gund Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at Walker Mortuary. A memorial has been established.
